Thambi, a Tamil thriller starring Karthi, Jyothika, and Sathyaraj, was leaked online via the Tamilrockers piracy website.
Tamilrockers is India's Piratebay and has a similar reputation in India to that of Piratebay in the US. Given law enforcement authorities working and even court rulings, Tamilrockers is functioning with impunity. It has been blocked by almost every ISP (Internet Service Provider), and yet it continues to be accessed via proxy servers under various domain names and other users.
It was previously limited to only Tamil films, as the name implies, but has since slowly extended its scope to Bollywood films, TV shows, web series, and Hollywood films.
According to the reviews and ratings of the various film critics and audiences, it is evident that the movie is not worthy of more than 2.5 stars.
Yet Thambi does not deliver a wholesome cinematic experience like Drishyam or Papanasam, despite great performances and a compelling plot. The story also appears detached. Thambi, like the romantic angle involving Saravanan and Sanjana (Nikhila Vimal), is not as effective in covering some of its other shortcomings. Each big twist and turn in the script is actually explained, not revealed to us. Only today, I can analyze my favorite scenes, without revisiting Papanasam. Thambi gives no especially memorable scenes or even characters, that way. Indeed, the greatest success of the film is the way it compels you to expect the unexpected, even when you begin to foresee what will happen next— which works both to the film's benefit and its disadvantage.
Due to the songs and background score, Papanasam performed too. Thambi, too, is failing in this dimension. One of the weak links of the film is the absence of' sound-wise' suspense. While the first half has a lighthearted tone, Thambi gets a tad serious post-interval. Both Drishyam and Thambi have many similarities. The central theme of all this is simple: family and relationships. It is clear that they could have done better.
Visit Tamilrockers and watch this movie if you have not watched it yet. I hope this information benefited you all. Please like and share this blog with your friends. Comment and let us know your views about Thambi.
