Shakti (Dhanush), a little robber, messes up with Neelakantham (Naveen Chandra), the director of the kick-boxing institute in a robbery case. On the other hand, Kanyakumari (Sneha), who ha been released from prison for sixteen years, is stalking Neelakantham and aims to murder him.

If we talk about the performance of this movie, then according to the reviews of many critics and audiences, this movie is not worthy then 2 stars.

The significance of the ancient style of martial arts called Adimurai is perfectly illustrated. As expected, Dhanush impresses with his performance on a role that has two variations. He's vibrant in the part of Shakti as a youth, and his comedy timing and dances in the first song are fun.

Dhanush's makeover as Vijayandra Bhupati is a critical flashback episode that is strong and delivers an emotional performance in the village's leading role. The actress Sneha takes on a meaty role and impresses with her strong performance in a given purposeful role. Her performance in dramatic moments at both present and flashback periods adds complexity to the proceedings.

One of the key negative points of the film is that it has a repetitive plot. Adding to that, the script still loses freshness as it does and runs on a familiar basis with no twists and turns.

In general, Local Boy is a film that only impresses in a few places. Dhanush, Sneha's acting, and the central theme of the film are fine, but the repetitive plot will not be widely embraced. Considering the mass material, the film can find a few filmmakers in the B and C centers.
